A short update after a week live

Written by Arno Zijlstra Wednesday 25-02-2009

We've launched Moovum a week ago so lets see what happened. Moovur has had a positive response by the community with many people registering, downloading and installing the software.

Right now there are 240 active Joomla! sites using Mollom and Dries just tweeted:

"Mollom's efficiency jumped from 99.93% to 99.94%. Sounds like a small deal, but only 6 out of 10,000 spam messages slip through now!"

So lets think we the Joomla! and Moovur users are responsible for teaching Mollom some new tricks to be more efficient shall we.

We've had a user starting to integrate Moovur with JomSocial and Anthony helped out a bit with creating a plugin for it, it took him under 10 minutes to produce. We also have a Hungarian and a Dutch translation now. Both the plugin and the translations will be added to the RC2 release which we hope to set free end of the week or early next week. This release will also contain some bug fixes and some new options for showing image and audio captcha. Upgrading will be easy.

Thanks everyone for the feedback and downloading Moovur. If you have 3pd extensions that you would like to see Moovur integrated with please urge the developer to take a look at it and have us help if needed. Translations are always welcome too, you can find the latest and greatest on our forge via svn.

Moovum official partner of Mollom

Written by Wilco Jansen Friday 20-02-2009

In our press release we already announced to be the first official partner of Mollom. Mollom has created a partner page, and as you can see we're listed on that page. The team has worked hard to make the first product as good as possible, and the feedback has been incredible good.

It is good to see community members have been picking up the Moovur launch as people start sharing back improvements and modifications. We have not set a date for the second RC, but we are certain we will provide the Jomsocial plugin and we will also add some additional languages. Please send us a note if you want to create a translation, we would be very happy to incorporate it within Moovur.

How much spam is Mollom processing?

Written by Arno Zijlstra Thursday 19-02-2009

At the time of writing this post Mollom has caught 31,930,404 spam messages since it started, is processing content from 5,621 websites and the average efficiency is 99.93%. This means that only 7 in 10,000 spam messages were not caught. On average, 81% of all messages are spam. You can see a full scorecard here at the Mollom site.

Why is it important that Mollom's userbase grows?

Mollom is a so called intelligent software, it learns from processing data and with that gets better at it's job when more data is processed. With the release of Moovur we've not only made it easy to protect Joomla! sites with the Mollom intelligent text-analysis filter but we made it possible for the Joomla! community to help fight the constant battle against spam by teaching Mollom.

Here are two pages you may want to read on the Mollom site to get an idea fast about the benefits and features of using Mollom.

We'll keep you updated on interesting facts that we get from the Mollom team.

Moovur Supports JomSocial Now!

Written by Anthony Ferrara Wednesday 18-02-2009

We've just released a release candidate version of a JomSocial plug-in for use with Moovur! That's right, you can protect your JomSocial registration forms with Captcha (Without needing to hack anything)! Just download the plugin right from the downloads section! We'll bundle the extension with our next release of the Moovur Spam Fighter.

This is an important milestone here. Just 6 hours after releasing the core extension, we are releasing our first plug-in for a third party extension. The best part? It only took 10 minutes to write (Ok, according to the Skype logs, 9 minutes and 58 seconds) without ever needing to download JomSocial!

Wrapping up the last bits and pieces

Written by Arno Zijlstra Thursday 12-02-2009

We've been working hard the past couple of weeks and are nearing the day to launch the site and Moovum as a professional Joomla! services company in general. Starting something from the ground up is hard but on the other side a great thing to do especially when you are working with a great team with like minds.

We have a great balance in the Moovum team, we all have our different skill sets and with knowing these skill sets from one another and trusting your colleagues it is possible to do incredible things in very little time.

We've build a new website on Joomla! 1.5, a support forum and the plugins that manage single sign-on between the site and forum, some custom components, modules and plugins for use on our own site and of course our first product called Moovur (the ground work for some other superb products are in version controls as well).

Moovum has some great stuff coming in the future and our plans are big and solid, we hope you enjoy our effort and we are always open for feedback about anything.

Review with Dries and Benjamin

Written by Arno Zijlstra Saturday 07-02-2009

Last night we've had the first presentation of the site and Moovur to Dries Buytaert and Benjamin Schrauwen, the creators of Mollom.

Wilco prepared a demo of the product and we ran trough the site. Everything worked great and we got some useful tips from them for making Moovur communicate with the Mollom servers in the most fine tuned way.

We've installed Moovur on jfoobar to test it in a live environment for the first time and things seems to work like we expected.

Robin is writing the user documentation and Wilco did the first draft of the developer documentation so we are making great progress. Planning for going live next week, very exiting.
