Moovur Features
When running a website you most likely have encountered the problem of people spamming your site wherever they can. If you have a high traffic website this can be a tedious and time demanding, and in time it get's frustrating to filter out the spam. The Mollom service has been created to help you with this task, targeting at a fully automated way to fight spam on your website.
Below you see a visual representation how the Mollom service is working. The Mollom database holds a large amount of data on which the service will determine if something is spam or not. The Mollom service is not static, it learns from new spam attempts made on your side. The Moovur extension will help you with managing this task in an easy way so that the Mollom service can learn from any spam attempt made on your site.

There are several ways Moovur will interact with the Mollom service to protect your site. If, for example a form is posted, Moovur will send the content for analyses to Mollom's intelligent text-analysis filter, and Mollom is unsure whether it is ham or spam, it asks the user to answer a CAPTCHA challenge. This challenge-response procedure will never block human users, and it allows us to set very tight spam filters and prevent almost all spam from getting through. If an unwanted message still makes it onto your website, you can help fight back by reporting it to us using the Moovum administrative interface. Mollom learns from its mistakes, and you help make our spam filters even better.
In general the user won't even be aware that Moovur is active on the site. This is how the algorithm works in general. A user submits content to the site, for example using the contact-us form. The results are send to the Mollom service to validate if it is spam. In case of doubt the form will return, and captcha will be added to the form and the user is asked to post again. The content will be accepted if the proper Captcha is entered. The content will be refused immediately in case the content is flagged as spam by the Mollom service.
A full explanation on how Mollom works can be found on the Mollom site on the "How Mollom works" page. If you are interested on the Joomla! implementation of the Mollom service you can download the user manual. If you are a 3rd party developer interested in a quick implementation of Mollom into your extension, we advise you to use the Moovur API that has been developed for this purpose.
